TALKS #23 - THOSE WERE THE DAYS

welcome to a timetrip back to the 80ies ... when everything was better, well except of our taste in colour combinations and haircuts ... don't you think the guy who invented this palmtree-do should be trapped forever in the deepest dungeons of hell? het-hell. i bet the haircuts of the 80ies where the cause why hairdressers have to prove their gayness before getting their license nowadays ... anyway, those were the days. we all ran around in sneakers, funny t-shirts, listened to wild music, tried to shock our parents with piercing our faces and colour our skins ... wait ... i get the feeling that the only thing that really changed is that my back starts hurting when i bend down to pick my socks up ...

but something else changed. MY tv statin ... i mean the one they especially invented JUST FOR ME ... i am talking about music television ... changed into a constant ringtone commercial programm... i am to old for this ... i think i can understand what my parents thought, when i was glued to the screen in these days, watching flashing lights, streaming fabric, clothes and hair dancing in windmachine storms and very very weird people doing very very weird moves ... when you think about it it's ridiculous, but we thought it's wild ... anyway, i think they might felt like i feel now, when i am confronted with 7000 numbers per second ... 14 informations on screen and everything is so tiny ... *sigh ... but let's not think about that, let's think about the good old days when mtv was brandnew and wild and crazy and packed with wonderful clips. let's enjoy the songs that will always remind us on excellent but very very short movies

tracks in order of appearance:

video killed the radio star - the presidents of the united states of america

Sweet Dreams are Made of These=A new Nico podcast! Whoopie!

I remember the 80's! Oh gosh. Reagan was president then and I marched on Washington for reproductive rights. I remember the beginnings of MTV. Does anyone even watch MTV anymore? I sometimes watch VH1 for its shows about music celebrities.

Let's see from the list I recognize:
Kate Bush
Eurythmics
Pat Benatar
Duran Duran

Nico, I remember attending a speech Reagan gave when running for the Republican nomination in the 1970s and thinking, "This guy could never be president." Girl, was I ever proved wrong!

Oh Yes Nico.....

Those WERE the days.

But I am disapointed.
How could you talk about the 80's and not make mention of Nena and 99 Red Balloons?
